Thoughts on Fear

  • Heart stopping
  • Stomach wrenching
  • Numbing…

The kind of fear you would think one might only feel at a very scary movie, reading a frightening book, or being part of some mysterious spy adventure.

It’s not so unusual as all that.  Fear is something that we all feel at one time or another and to varying degrees.

Fear stops me dead in the water.  I can’t seem to do anything.

What or why do I fear?  I fear rejection.  I fear getting too close to someone…being known too well.  I fear change.  I fear responsibility.  Does any of this strike a chord with you?

Well, I don’t have all the answers to fear, but one thing I have learned is that I first have to face my fears and not deny them.  Then, because I am a child of God, I must be willing to replace my fear with God’s love because it says in God’s word:  “Perfect love casts out all fear.”  Sometimes, it also takes talking about your fear with someone else, or perhaps confessing something you have been holding back because of fear.

This has been something I am going through right now and just felt I needed to write about it first then share it with you!  Sharing my load lightens it and gives hope to others who may be feeling the same thing.  Thanks for listening!

What fears do you have and how have you dealt with them?  Please share in the comments below.

The photo I share with you today is one that just gives me hope…so be blessed!

  1. Getting caught up on your posts…I can definitely relate to the fears you mentioned. Whenever I post something that’s more personal I feel the fear rising up, but like you said, acknowledging it -not running away from it and sharing it with someone helps a lot. I’ll also visualize it being released to God and then being surrounded by love.

    • Hi Ally, I like your visualization! Thanks for coming by to read!
