Floral Friday Resurrected: 3 March 2017

Posted on Mar 3, 2017 by

Greetings fellow photography lovers!

It is about time that I return to my photo blog and get to the business of sharing beauty, inspiration, and instruction.  In the past, friends have really enjoyed my “Foral Friday” posts so here is my first one! I hope you will join me as I begin to post regularly again and even return to a Photo-of-the-day.

I am returning to a method of turning photos into beautiful “orbs” that I had posted several years ago!  This is such a beautiful yet simple way to “jazz” up a photo.  You can find a video of how to make this orb in Photoshop here. And I also have to credit my friend Cheryl McCain for first mentioning this awesome tutorial.  Here are some tips to remember.

  1. Not every picture makes a good orb. The more flowers and stems and leaves, the better.
  2. If you don’t crop the picture to a square, you will end up with an oval instead of an orb, which isn’t all that bad if thats the look you are going for.

The following examples of this technique show the original photo and then the orb made from it below.

Let me know what you think of this technique!  Do you like it?  Are you having any problems with it?  How will you use this technique?  Which one is your favorite? Comment below, I would love to hear from you!!

  1. Hi Paula! Glad you enjoyed my tutorial and I hope your readers will too. If anyone is interested, I have created a FaceBook group about orbs that you and your readers are welcome to join.

    • Thanks so much for sharing your FB link Bill! I have just loved your tutorial and it is so easy really.

A Penny for your thoughts?!
